The first ever Management Collective meeting to be held in the new building was attended by Tess McDonald, Mark Alwast (shop manager), Adele Morrison, Dioni Salas, Cedar Newton (facilitator), Heather Boyer, Nat Keene, and Sam Wilson (minutes). On this most 'istoric occasion, we did decide upon the business set out below. Three cheers for the food co-op! Hip hip hooray!

Contents

Standing Items

  • Confirmed minutes of last meeting.
  • Approved two hundred and fifty new members.
  • Ate lots of yummy dahl and chapatti.

2007 AGM

The AGM is to be held on Saturday, November 10th at 2PM, at the food co-op.

Co-ordinator Training

We waive the usual requirement of having to have been a member of six months prior to becoming a co-ordinator for Lizzie Martin, Sedman Watts, Pueben Ball and Dan Bell. We have to do this becuase we have a severe lack of trained co-ordinators. Mark Laugesen, Fiona Bunning and Kerry are also training (but have been members for ages and so the six-month rule doesn't apply).

Tricky the Tricycle Stall

The Canberra Bicycle Museum has an amazing stall-all-a-bike, with fold out benches and a big awning and all sorts of greatness. I will probably cost too much for us to buy it (it cost them $2000 just to restore it) but Mark will approach the Museum to enquire into loaning it, to use either as a display stand in the coop, or as a portable stall to take to markets.

Superannuation for Paid Staff

We agreed that, despite it not being a legal requirement, all paid staff shall receive superannuation regardless of how many hours they work.

Free Coffee for Volunteer Staff

Now that we've got the coffee machine up and running, and pending coffee-machine-trained person availability, every volunteer worker (co-ordinators, people doing their work hours, or anyone else coming in for a big chunk of time) can have one free coffee or hot chocolate during their shift.

Insurance Cover for Glass

Our current insurance policy mayn't cover windows being smashed, so we might have to pay more for this protection. Mark to investigate.

Purchase of a Microwave Oven

Discussion deferred until a clearer need for a microwave arises.

Colours By Nature Paint Supply or Endorsement

A) The company that supplied us with bio-paint at cost would like to co-op to act as an agent for their products. We feel that (as a food co-op) we do not want to stock paint, but will gladly have their brochures/catalogue on display.

B) Also, there was some paint left over which we returned to Colours By Nature and for which we received a refund of $388.

Payment for Extra Cost of Marmoleum and Bio-Paint

BH have not yet asked us for the extra money that we agreed to contribute in order to get environmentally-friendly building supplies, so we will approach them about this.

Financial Report

To be attached.

Coffee and Licence To Occupy

Our current licence covers organic food and wholefoods, not coffee and other 'medium-risk' foods. This is an issue with the ANU, and not the health department (who have approved our kitchen, coffee machine, etc.). It should be possible to change the licence with the ANU, although there is the possibility of issues with, for example, our choice of coffee supplier.

New Flyer

Deferred until next meeting, or to be discussed via email.

Opening Party

We will have a party on Sunday the 9th of September at two to five-thirty in the afternoon, to celebrate the move to the new building. David Lamont has contributed $500 towards drinks and food for this, bless him. The party is for all building tenants, not just the co-op.

'ANU' in Our Name

If the ANU wants us to drop the 'ANU' from our name, we will ask for clarification of their reasons for asking this.

'Licence To Occupy' and Future Permanent Location

There are some clauses in our present 'Licence To Occupy' these premises that seem to suggest that we give up any right to argue about anything. This is being reviewed by a solicitor, and we will have a better idea of where we stand, soon. We do not want to agree to having to agree with everything.

Massages for Mark

We will pay for Mark to have three massages with Luke (or whoever he wants), as a small way of slightly thanking him for all this wonderful, brilliant, amazing hard work over the last year (or more). Mark truly has given so much to the co-op, and we will be forever in his debt. Thank you Mark!

Next meeting: Friday, 31st August (next Friday).

Meeting closed 7:18PM.
